How to Calculate How Much Sod You Need
Sod gives you an instant lawn in days rather than months. Calculating the right amount is simple — measure your area, add 5% for waste, then divide by your pallet coverage.
The Sod Formula
Pallets = (Area × 1.05) ÷ Pallet Coverage
Example: 1,500 sq ft at 450 sq ft per pallet:
1,500 × 1.05 = 1,575 ÷ 450 = 3.5 → order 4 pallets
